Camp Descriptions
LEARN TO RIDE
Say goodbye to training wheels! Learn to Ride campers will be riding independently, safely and confidently by week’s end. LTR Camp is designed for a range of riders- from hesitant and fearful with zero bike experience, to balance bike pros- our individualized instruction and games-based curriculum allows a wide range of riders to get the support, encouragement and challenge they need to succeed!
Participants master balance and gliding first, then easily transition to riding independently, starting/stopping, speed control, turning, steering, riding in groups and around obstacles and hazards. Even the most reluctant riders will be beaming and showing off their skills by the last day Bike Parade for families, encouraged by our expert instructors and caring staff, specialized equipment and lots of practice through games and fun.
- Locations: ALL
- Ages: 4-12 (varies by location)
- Hours: Half Day and Full Day Options available
LEARN TO RIDE - LEVEL 2
Beginning Bike Adventure
Learn to Ride- Level 2/Beginner Bike Adventure is a great skill-builder for newer riders and a perfect first introduction to group riding fun! Designed for graduates of our Learn to Ride programs and other inexperienced independent riders, this camp will help bikers practice and develop important bike skills and safety, boost confidence and include some fun destination rides to stoke their love of two-wheeled adventure!
In the early part of the week, our staff will review key bike skills and safety concepts, and assess camper’s abilities and readiness. Campers will practice and prepare for group riding through games and fun skill drills. Then we’ll move on to adventuring to adjacent low traffic areas, school campus and/or bike trails (location-dependent)- which will definitely include a sweet cold treat! In addition to bike skills practice at our home base, we’ll incorporate playground play, crafts and games.
- Locations: Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian, Kinder Farm Park Millersville (AA Rec & Parks)- half day programs, Park School Baltimore, Georgetown Day School- full day programs
- Ages: 4-12 (varies by location) independent riders- no training wheels, able to start/stop independently
- Hours: Half Day and Full Day Options available- specific to location
BIKE ADVENTURE CAMPS
Our Bike Adventure Camps includes a daily destination on two wheels, visiting a variety of local businesses and community partners for activities like parks, crafts, yoga, story time, business tours, and local attractions. Daily riding distance varies from 4 miles (half day camps) to up to 15 miles for full day camps. Riding occurs along bike trails, as well as some low traffic roads, sidewalks, bike lanes and in parks.
For Full Day Bike Adventure Camps, campers and staff eat lunch outdoors either along the route, at that day’s destination or back at our home base. Typically, half of the camp day (often afternoon) is held back at our home base and may include a variety of fun structured and unstructured activities- crafts, tie dye, water play, creative movement, music, sports, group challenge activities, games and more. This is an all outdoor, highly physical, fun-filled camp designed to boost confidence, resilience and growth mindset! Camp is held rain or shine- and if weather conditions are safe for riding, bike riding will happen! We do have use of indoor space for inclement weather as needed.
- Locations: Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian (full day), Georgetown Day School (full day)
- Ages: 6-12 (varies by location), Must be a proficient independent rider
- Hours: Half Day and Full Day Options available
