PEDALPOWER KIDS

EVERY KID ON A BIKE!

We provide high-quality, individualized and fun bicycle skills and safety instruction for children of all ages and abilities. We believe that bikes make life better, and that every kid should be able to ride confidently and safely.

Learning to ride a bike should be a positive experience for a child, and our professional instruction ensures the learning process is quick and engaging, and lays the foundation for a lifetime of family fun, independence and exploration through bike riding. In addition to our signature Learn to Ride group programs and camps in Anne Arundel County, Washington DC and Baltimore, PedalPower Kids offers summer adventure camps, bike clubs, private lessons, preschool and school-aged enrichment programs, school bike safety programs, neighborhood safety clinics and bike rodeos.

We’re proud to be an active part of the Annapolis/Anne Arundel County community, giving back through bike advocacy and volunteer efforts like Bike to School Day and free Bike Safety Rodeos.

  • This week’s Why Wednesday: “Why Give Your Kiddo Some Space at Learn to Ride”

At PPK, we love supportive parents — you’re the reason your rider is here! But during class, we intentionally create a little space and encourage parents to spread out or even step away during instruction.

As any parent who has coached their child in sports can attest, it’s challenging to be both a supportive parent and an objective coach. Our coaches know what to say and do to help children master multiple, complex skills simultaneously, by assuming competence and capability. We believe that every child CAN and WILL learn to ride a bike, and we bring that belief and heaps of patience to every single class and camp.

In turn, riders take more risks. They push through frustration and persevere. They begin solving problems on their own.

And when they ride over to you at the end of class to show you what they can do? You’ll both be beaming with pride!
  • Imagine hearing from a third grader that they’re scared to ride a bike in PE class because their Dad was teaching them to ride before he was abducted by 🧊…. This is one of many horrific, tragic events impacting families in Anne Arundel County every single day. If you’re feeling heartbroken 💔 and trying to figure out how to help- join us in supporting the most vulnerable members of our community. The team shared some urgent needs: grocery gift cards, and Lyft and Uber gift cards for transportation- we created an Amazon wishlist that will ship gift cards directly to the school- link in bio. We are also sharing their amazing PE teacher’s wish list which includes lots of basic supplies to have on hand for students in need- also linked in bio. Gently used clothing and tennis shoes are also needed- DM us to get something to the school. Please join us in supporting our neighbors, hardworking families who want the best for their children and are living in fear every day. ❤️ Love is stronger than hate! Please share.

  • This week’s #WhyWednesday: “Why Small Groups Make an Big Impact on Success”

At PPK, we intentionally design our programs and camps around small group sizes- not private one-on-one lessons or huge clinics, but small class and individual small groups within our Learn to Ride camps.

Why small? Learning to ride takes focus, repetition, and trust. When classes are small, coaches can give personalized instruction, notice subtle adjustments in body position, and step in with the right cue at the right moment. Each rider gets seen, supported, and challenged appropriately.

Small groups also mean kids aren’t overwhelmed. They have space to practice, process feedback, and build confidence without feeling rushed or lost in the crowd. The result? More meaningful progress, stronger coach–rider relationships, and kids who feel capable — not chaotic.

Why not one-on-one private lessons then? For the majority of riders, there is enormous benefit in positive peer pressure and modelling that we see in a small group setting. Riders are progressing at different paces, motivating and encouraging those who aren’t quite “there” yet to keep going. Team games incorporated in our practice sessions push riders past fears, and the structured class environment keeps a steady pace for progress.

This combination of personalized attention and group motivation is available in our spring programs. Spots are intentionally limited to keep classes small — register now to secure yours, link in bio.
